This is a test article to demonstrate Dialog tree formatting options

I know, it's probably poor form to start an article like this, but the sand box linked from the help page says its content won't last.

example 1

this contains a little bit of a mix of old and new style in some sections, as far as a single line of green dialogue is concerned.

Contact: Blablabla

example 2: indents

I added indentation. Zombie Man 13:33, 4 May 2010 (UTC)

Nice! I wanted to, but the only way I knew how was using colons. It didn't work and kind of messed things up. Felderburg 22:44, 4 May 2010 (UTC)

Contact: Blablabla

example 3: divbox template

note: I have modified some stuff in the last dialog box from the original, just to further the example. I think some modifications to the titles of the div boxes (color-should be green-, and maybe size/bold-to differentiate the level they are in the tree) ought to be made.

Title of text (in this case, initial contact)

example 4: indents and boxes

setup for example 4 (will paste in here when complete - gimme a bit ~ AGGE talk/cons 02:11, 5 May 2010 (UTC) )

done! ~ AGGE talk/cons 02:44, 5 May 2010 (UTC)

Now that looks cool. I didn't even notice the shades of grey at first, maybe more color colors? Felderburg 03:49, 5 May 2010 (UTC)

visual example (not templated)

Hey there beautiful, my name's Dean MacArthur, but you can call me D-Mac, babe. Glad you decided to stop on by my little bit of home here.

You're probably wondering right now, who is this amazing man standing before me?

Well, I'll tell you! I'm a guy who can get you information on what YOU want.

I'm not selfish at all, see? You want something, we figure out how to get that. Or I give you a heads up on what might cause you some problems, you know?

I don't know who would give a pretty flower like YOU problems though.

So, what do you say?

  • What can you do for me?
What can I do for you? What can I, The Daring D'ster do for a lovely rose like you?
The answer is a lot. See, information, it just falls into my lap, like petals falling in a summer's garden.
Now me, I think that information could be used against folks. You name 'em, Cage, Longbow, Wyvern, Legacy Chain, PPD, the works.
Buncha bums, you know? So I find this info, give it to you, and you do what you do with it!

  • You're not looking to them for protection? From people like me?
Bwhu? Them protect me?
Look babe, I know how it goes around here. If these guys could protect anyone, they woulda gained control of the Isles.
But I know where the winning team is - beautiful flowers like you. And me? I intend to be on the winning team, you know? Especially with beautiful women like you on it!

  • I'll think it over and talk to you again soon.
You know what, I totally understand. A glowing beauty like yourself has gotta be on the look out for scams.
Tell you what. I'll hang out here. When you're ready to get down to business, you let me know, and we can make some beautiful music together.

  • Alright Dean, perhaps I'll be back.

  • Sounds a little too convenient, Dean.
My life is all about being convenient! Like a fresh spring appearing in an arid desert...
Tell you the truth, okay? This is me, opening up to you, and I barely know you.
Those 'heroes' in Paragon, they got it all wrong. Someone's gotta shove 'em off their high horse. Enforcin' laws then lookin' the other way when them same laws destroy a person's life.
Now I know it ain't gonna be me. But I figure, helping someone like you will at least make a dent, yeah?

  • So, you're some sort of freedom fighter?
Freedom Fighter? Sounds romantic...is that what you're interested in? I'm fine with that title, or whatever else you wanna call me, eh?
In the end, I know it's tough trusting folks here, yeah? But I tell you now, you work with me, I'll help you out with whatever needs doing.
Take your time, think it over, then you know what? D-Ster here, I'll be waiting.

  • We'll see what happens Dean

  • Why should I trust you?
What, you don't trust the dashing, daring, dynamic D-Mac? Check out this flex, pow! How can you not trust that?
But you're right, how can you trust me? Maybe I can say, 'You can trust me', but I know you're smarter than that.
You're talking to me, right? Which means you're smarter already. But still just as beautiful.

  • You still haven't answered my question.
A smart one eh!
Well look, me, I'm not super-powered at all. Maybe I'm good with a gun, but that's it. So, you can trust me because you can trust that I don't waty you beating my face in if I tried anything funny. Not that I wouldn't mind you getting your hands on me.
Maybe some other folks here talk tough, but I know what I can do, and it for sure isn't close to what you can do.

  • I'll take your word, for now. What do you have for me?
Let's see...a few beautiful roses...some champagne...tickets for two to a play in St. Martial.
But to get specific, I've got some tidbits on a pesky hero hanging around here. But tell you what, give me a second to get everything in order, yeah?
Just two seconds. And then you get your stuff in order.
When both of our...stuffs...are in order, we'll make things happen.

  • We'll see, Dean.

  • Let's say I trust you - what then?

template example

would have:
{{DialogueTreeBegin}}
{{DialogueTree0|initial text (not indented)}}
{{DialogueTree1|indented one time}}
{{DialogueTree2|indented two times}}
{{DialogueTree3|intended three times}}
{{DialogueTree4|indented four times}}
...however many indents are necessary (currently only need four indentations)...
{{DialogueTreeEnd}}

for example:

{{DialogueTreeBegin}}
{{DialogueTree0|
Hey there beautiful, my name's Dean MacArthur, blah blah blah
}}
{{DialogueTree1|
* {{green|What can you do for me?}}

:What can I do for you? blah blah blah
}}
{{DialogueTree2|
* {{green|You're not looking to them for protection? From people like me?}}

:Bwhu? Them protect me? blah blah blah
}}
{{DialogueTree3|
* {{green|I'll think it over and talk to you again soon.}}

:You know what, blah blah blah
}}
{{DialogueTree4|
* {{green|Alright Dean, perhaps I'll be back.}}
}}
....all the other dialogue options go here, too much text to write out for an example... :p
{{DialogueTreeEnd}}
