Part One: Erratic Behavior

Briefing

Encantado, Character. I am here on behalf of the Freedom Phalanx, and I must say that I am deeply honored to get the chance to work with one such as yourself.

Positron has informed me of your progress in the search for Pandora's Box. I am confident that, with the help of Doctor Harvan, we will find the artifact that you seek.

  • Agree to form a task force

Doctor Harvan is hard at work using the Antikythera to track the location of Pandora's Box, and Positron has been in the field, assisting him with data gathered from areas around Paragon. Positron assures me that they are making good progress, but he worries about their pacing.

Perhaps you could speak with Doctor Harvan, and find a way to assist him as well? The earlier we locate Pandora's Box, after all, the less likely someone else will find it before us.

Unnecessary Solicitation

Are you still planning on assisting Doctor Harvan, Character?

Briefing

Fusionette beams at you.

Yo, Character! How's it going? Still kicking butt and taking names?

  • Yeah, sure. How have you been feeling lately?

Fusionette seems puzzled by the question at first.

What, you mean this?

She makes a broad gesture, looking herself over.

Never had a day when I felt better in my life, Character. It's fantastic. It's like that moment when you bring down an AV, or when you learn a new power, only all the time. Completely and utterly exhilarating.

  • No noticeable side effects?

You mean, other than being my own light source? Naw, not that I've noticed.

Fusionette pauses for a moment, frowning.

Well, Jimmy did comment that I was getting a bit... testy recently. Although, really, I think he's just a little put off. I'm way stronger than he is, now, and he just can't seem to handle it.

Seriously, though, that's the way things are, right? The strong survive, and keep getting stronger, while the weak fall away...

  • Fusionette... do you really believe that?

Fusionette winces, as though in pain, and puts a hand to her temple.

Um... I don't know, Character. I guess... I guess you're right, that seems a little off. Maybe I owe Jimmy an apology.

Fusionette rolls her head around, cracking her neck. She looks off at nothing, scowling slightly.

It's hard to think straight in here, Character. I'm way too cooped up. Positron wanted me to hang around so he can study me, but I need to cut loose.

Just promise me you'll take me along if you go do something interesting, ok? I don't think I can stand another moment in here.

  • Yeah... sure. I'll try to keep you included.

Briefing

Penelope seems to be staring at Harvan, brow furrowed. She doesn't notice you as you approach, until you're nearly face-to-face. When she finally does take notice of her surroundings, Penelope jumps slightly in surprise.

Oh! Character. You caught me off-guard. What's up?

  • Something about Harvan interest you?

Penelope's face scrunches into a puzzled expression.

I'm... not sure, Character. Something's up with that guy. He gives me a weird vibe.

  • Care to elaborate?

It's not something I can put my finger on. He's not planning to betray us or anything. I'd sense it, if he was. There's just something wrong about him.

He just... I don't know, smells wrong. Except, he doesn't... it's hard to describe. Just be careful around him, Character. He's not malicious, but I'm not sure I fully trust him, either.

  • Duly noted, Penelope.

Briefing

Character, good to see you again. What can I do for you?

  • Flashfire told me that you might be able to use my help.

Ah yes, quite. Positron has already offered to take readings for me at various points in Paragon City.

I've been taking the data he gathers and feeding it through the metrics I've already gleaned from the Antikythera. So far, we've covered about half of the city, but we'll need more data points before I can accurately-

  • Hm?

Briefing

Citadel remains focused on the screen in front of him, even after calling you over.

Character, it appears that Talos Island is currently under siege. I believe that a response from us will be necessary, given the magnitude of the assault. Is this a task you would be well-suited for?

  • I've taken down plenty of Raiders in my day, if that's what you're asking.
Citadel nods, still staring at the screen. Images flicker by, faster than the eye can see.
Fusionette has been stationed here since your encounter with Lilitu; Positron and Doctor Harvan both expressed interest in further studying her current condition.
Given that they are both preoccupied at the moment, I believe it would be best if Fusionette accompanied you. By monitoring your battle remotely, I will be able to measure her energy output. The data may prove useful in future tests.
Citadel's screen lets out a series of upbeat bleeps, and you hear a soft humming sound behind you.
I have calibrated the nearby portal to take you directly to the area of Talos that is under attack. Good luck, Character.
  • Thanks, Citadel. I'm off.
  • Why not send the whole Phalanx?
While I am aware that increasing the size of the response team would improve success rate, I am not certain that this attack is entirely genuine. I estimate that there is a 28.73% chance that the assault in Talos is intended to divert our attention for some reason. With Positron already outside the base's perimeter, the staff on-hand at the Phalanx base is limited.
Positron has informed me that the protection of Doctor Harvan is of paramount importance. Thus, I believe it would be best if a small but capable force was sent to deal with this incident.
  • Still, I could use the backup.

Debriefing

Flashfire smiles, and strokes his beard thoughtfully.

Ah, there can never be a dull moment in Paragon City, can there, Character? I am beginning to remember why I left this life behind.

Still, you say that Captain Castillo was empowered? That is... troubling. Do you think that this attack was somehow related to Pandora's Box? Perhaps we should investigate further in that area... ah, well. That is a matter for the Phalanx to handle.

You, my friend, have performed admirably, and for that you deserve commendation. Enhorabuena, Character.
