War Witch is a hero trainer in Croatoa in the Sunset Ridge neighborhood, located on the small northern island in the lake. Her coordinates are (-22, 35, 826), and her location is marked on the map as a contact. Originally, she could also be found as an NPC in Pocket D on the upper floor of the hero side, but with Issue 13, she is now a trainer for both sides in Pocket D.

Background

Description

Croatoa

Guardian of Croatoa

In life, War Witch was a powerful sorceress who channeled the mystic powers of her coven to battle villains alongside her fellow heroes Horus and Apex. Sadly, she lost her life in battle against the arch-villain Requiem. Though War Witch has passed away, her spirit remains rooted to the world for which she gave her life. The ghost of War Witch makes her home in Croatoa, sitting silently by the lake, training younger heroes in need.

Pocket D

Pocket D Patron

In life, War Witch was a powerful sorceress who channeled the mystic powers of her coven to battle villains alongside her fellow heroes Horus and Apex. Sadly, she lost her life in battle against the arch-villain Requiem. Though War Witch has passed away, her spirit remains rooted to the world for which she gave her life. The ghost of War Witch makes her home in Croatoa, sitting silently by the lake, training younger heroes in need.

The more corporeal War Witch found in the strange dimensional nexus of Pocket D appears to be a version from an alternate reality, though is coy about the exact specifics. The two are uncannily similar in many ways, but the most important difference seems to be that this one is... still breathing.

Signature Character

When she's not hovering on the side of a hill in Croatoa, overseeing the advancement of Heroes, War Witch likes to skip over to Pocket D and hang out.

Her drink of preference, of course, is Chai Tea Lattes.

War Witch has been known to get a bit snippy at times. She can't help it. You'd be snippy, too, if Requiem messed up your face and tossed you off a building to your doom.

As luck, and time, would have it, War Witch uses the whole ghost thing to her advantage. It makes walking through walls far easier and it's especially useful for sneaking up on her friends.

Friends call her Clarissa. Enemies simply don't call. They don't even write. Not even a postcard.

History

War Witch was an active character in every issue of the Blue King Studios City of Heroes comic book as a member of an unnamed supergroup with Horus and Apex.

She perished in a battle with Requiem in the last issue (#12) before Top Cow took over the comic book. However, even death itself cannot keep her from being a presence in Paragon City to help to train new heroes.

With the opening of Pocket D, another incarnation of War Witch was discovered. Unlike the spectral presence she has in Croatoa, this one is alive and well, since it is in an alternate dimension. Prior to Issue 13, she seemed content with simply observing and occasionally conversing with anyone near her, but with Issue 13, she became a trainer contact.

Greetings

Croatoa

  • I can give you a few pointers. You learn a few things only after the fact.
  • Hey, take a load off. Let's chat.
  • I may be a ghost, but that doesn't mean I can't teach you a thing or two.

Pocket D

  • Could you get me another chai once we're through here?
  • Do you know what's up with that seagull?
  • I can give you a few pointers. You know, in case you try to get yourself killed or something.

Notes

"I'm just checking out the new club. Can't hover in Croatoa all the time. Oh wait. Alternate reality. I probably am."
