Playing Tips

How to pull

There are some excellent guides to pulling out there, but the main point bears repeating:

BREAK LINE OF SIGHT.

Seriously. That's pretty much all it takes. I recommend the guides for more details, but essentially, firing and staying where enemies can fire back is not "pulling", it's "aggroing".

The VQC bind

Every hero should have this bind, whether they play a Kheldian or not. Yes, it will prevent you from targeting anything but a Void Hunter, Quantum gunner, or Crystal until it's down, but that's really the point. You will appreciate it as a Kheldian; Kheldian teammates will appreciate your priorities.

/bind tab "targetcustomnext enemy alive Quantum$$targetcustomnext enemy
  alive Void$$targetcustomnext enemy alive Cyst$$targetenemynext"

Measuring time

You can check the time on your computer with the /localtime command, but for measuring time in seconds (if you don't have a stopwatch handy), use these methods:

  • If you have a second costume slot, change costumes. When you can change back to your original costume, 30 seconds have passed.
    • Three costume changes = 60 seconds = increased unsidekick/unlackey bonus.
    • Two costume changes = 30 seconds = exemplar/malefactor kicks in, XP gains resume.
  • If you only have one costume, or don't feel like changing costumes, simply add the modifier <dur 15> to a spoken phrase. (Just make sure chat bubbles are enabled.) This will make the chat bubble persist for 15 seconds.

The maximum length of time chat bubbles will stay on screen is approximately 18 seconds, regardless of the value for <dur #>, thus the handier 15 second increment.

Note: Issue 12 broke the <dur #> tag function. It no longer parses and bubble chats remain for the default duration of 7 seconds.
