The Sub-About: Introduction

Guy Perfect's the name and City of Heroes is my game. Oh... Well, I guess that was pretty obvious. Not like I'd be making a user page at the Paragon Wiki about Metroid Prime. No, City of Heroes definitely is not Metroid Prime. It is different.

I'm one of those tinkerers, the kind of guy who knows more than maybe I should for me and those around me to remain healthy. Not just about the game, mind you, but about computers. How the game works; how it thrives. It's one of my hobbies. I know most people out there cringe in disgust at the idea of thinking as a hobby, much less enjoying the act of doing so. Well, I'm different. Very different. Intentionally different, if you haven't caught onto my affinity for italics yet. One thing you may find out if you get to know me is that I make a point to be different. Traditions are next to the taste of NyQuil for me in terms of desireability.

Everything happens for a reason. I said that, and I mean it. If you ever want to know why, ask me.

Me and City Of Blah

File:Archetype Defeated.png This user's main character is Defeated.

I started playing City of Heroes when my brother forced it on me as a birthday gift in 2006. To me, it was one of those online games where your fate is based on a set of numbers and player skill has no noteworthy effect on the outcome. Well, it still is one of those. But this game is different, you see, for it has content! Good content, which kept me playing. Why did the Rikti invade Earth? How did the Hamidon become a big dop of jelly? How can your contacts keep standing forever without getting tired? Well, two out of three are described in-game.

I found myself in a world where the developers gave a crap and there was so much variety that I couldn't help but forget it was a game of magic numbers. So many gangs, so many back-stories, so many powers. I might go so far as to call this thing interesting. Badges are fun to collect, lab technician-stealing players are fun to exact revenge on, Ambrosia is fun to sell off to the nearest newcomer who doesn't know what it does... There's so much to do in the game, I actually think it's fun!

I got a character to Level 50 and am now enjoying the world of villainy. The isles where the rogues go. You know, that place.

Where I Fit In

My main function here in the Paragon Wiki is to spruce up the content. I don't add content all that often. That is not my function here. But sprucing, boy howdy... I'm the head sprucer in seventeen countries and I'm not afraid to spruce it up a notch! Using this bulleted list, I'll detail some of the things that I do:

  • Revise text and descriptions for better clarification and expression.
  • Take wiki-quality screenshots of various things in the game.
  • Get map information. You wouldn't believe how entertaining that is.

Huh. Three items. Oh well, it's still a list. No arguing with that.

The Spruce Hammer

I give out this badge when I see people making waves of difference in the wiki.

Magic Images

StarGeek inspired me to prepare some usable avatar "images." They're actually CGI programs running on my web server that randomly select an image when they're executed. One for powers, one for badges, one for Archetype/Origin.

The Avatar

Ruthlessly spoofifying Tic Toc's Avatar, I created a short little animation full of whim and cheerful spirit. Oh, and no, I'm not gonna reveal how to do it either. Tic Toc mentioned he didn't want swarms of iVatars flying around, and I completely agree.

Giant Monsters

These are things that I've found. I'll continuously add to the list as I see things, even if they've been documented before. All values rounded to the nearest tenth.
