Information

Portal Corporation Research Scientist

Tina Macintyre is one of the leading researchers in the growing field of dimensional portal technology. After losing most of her team into the first wild portal ever created, she has focused her energy on assisting heroes to deal with the negative side effects of the portals. Tina is equally motivated by her love of science and the guilt she carries for her part in the loss of her team.

Initial Contact

I am convinced that dimensional portals will be an important part of our future, CharacterName. I am counting on you to help me stabilize the current situation so that we can make that dream a reality.

Badge Mission

Investigate the psychic signal

This is usually the first mission you will receive from Tina, since it precedes the Story Arc.

Briefing

I hope you're ready for the many challenges Portal Corporation will throw at you. Why, just last week, we had to beat off an attack of winged monkeys! Ha, ha, I'm kidding, I'm kidding! Seriously, though, it's a big, wide, multiverse, and it's not for the faint of heart. For your first mission, I'd like you to go to the dimension we've designated Epsilon Tau 27-2. We've detected a very strong psychic signal there, and we want to make sure it doesn't pose a threat.

Let me tell you a little about how this works, CharacterName. We have to erect a force field to keep part of an alternate dimension stable in relation to our own. If that field ever goes down, we could lose you in another world. Explore the selected area thoroughly, then report back.

Mission Objective(s)

You hear a familiar ticking sound. Could it be? No, surely not.

  • Find source of psychic energy
    • Defeat Clockwork King

You defeated the Clockwork King!

Badge

Upon completion of this mission, the Accomplishment Emancipator Badge is awarded.

File:Badge stature 12.png Emancipator

You have defeated the Clockwork King in an alternate dimension where he realized his true potential.

Debriefing

The Clockwork King? I haven't thought about him in the longest time. I guess I always heard that he had truly phenomenal psychic powers, that he could do remarkable things if he weren't limited by his insanity. It sounds like that other dimension fell totally under his dominion. You say there were no people at all? CharacterName, I wonder what happened. I wonder how long the King can survive there all by himself? With his fantastic psychic powers sustaining his brain, I guess he could spend the next millennium roaming that barren rock alone.

Go to the Hydra dimension and learn anything you can

Badge

Stepping into the mission portal (for the first and/or third part) will award any hero with the Exploration Multidimensional Badge.

File:Badge tourism hazard.png Multidimensional

The Hydra that lives under Paragon City is rumored to be a refugee from this dimension.

Defeat all villains in area

Briefing

There's good news, CharacterName. After months of effort, some Portal Corporation techs have managed to isolate the dimension the Hydra comes from. We want you to go there and learn anything you can about the Hydra. Thanks to the efforts of Paragon City's brave heroes, the monster is relatively contained within the sewer system. But it has enormous regenerative powers, and we need to find a way to defeat it for good. If you find anything, take it to Dr. Steve Sheridan. He knows a lot about extra-dimensional species.

Mission acceptance

I'm not really sure what you'll find there, CharacterName. From our initial probes, it looks like a pretty scary place.

Unnecessary solicitation

We still need to know more about the Hydra.

Mission Objective(s)

You look up at the green sky. Somehow, you find it strangely beautiful.

  • Defeat all villains in area

After fighting the Hydra Men, you're covered in a gelatinous green goo.

Talk to Steven Sheridan

Mission Objective(s)

  • Talk to Steven Sheridan

Unnecessary solicitation

You should take that gunk over to Dr. Steven Sheridan. Maybe he can make some sense of it.

Ambush!

When you zone to a different map on your way to meet Steven Sheridan, you will be ambushed by Rikti.

Briefing

Mighty interesting, CharacterName. Mighty interesting indeed. I'll tell you one thing: these Hydra Men aren't the simple blobs of protoplasm we thought they were. In fact, I think this green goop they were covered in is actually their method of communication. Now, mind you, this is only a theory.

I think the Hydra communicate through chemical signals. One Hydra Man secretes certain chemicals into that green plasma. Then he touches another, who can instantly 'read' his message. It's quite sophisticated, I assure you. If you'll bear with me for a moment, I believe I can develop a new plasma that will let you understand their chemical signals. Communication will be only one way, but it should give you a better idea of what's going on in that world.

Icon clue generic.png
Pink plasma
Dr. Steven Sheridan engineered this plasma from the gelatinous substance the Hydra Men use to communicate with one another. After some time in the Hydra world, you should begin to understand their thoughts.

Unnecessary solicitation

Sheridan's got a pretty big brain, huh? You better get back to the Hydra dimension and see what there is to see.

Defeat all villains in area

Mission Objective(s)

After coating your body with Dr. Sheridan's pink plasma, you feel more than a little silly. At least there's no one here to see you but the Hydra Men.

  • Defeat all villains in area
    • 3 portals to shut down

When you fought the Man O'War, Aue'io, you hear his thoughts inside your head.

Before combat: Protean: "This is our home! You can't take us from it!"
Before combat: Protean: "You have kidnapped enough of my people!"
Combat start: Protean: "You, too, would take us from our home?"

Debriefing

So, the Rikti have been kidnapping Hydra Men from the dimension you visited. Then they bring the creatures back to our world, to help them fight their war against us. I always assumed the Hydra Men were hostile, but maybe they're just confused. Kidnapped, uprooted, stuck on some strange new planet far from their families. No wonder they assume we're all their enemies! It's too bad Dr. Sheridan wasn't able to engineer a way for you to make yourself understood to the Hydra Men; then we could tell them we mean them no harm. But I guess it's best if we just do what they asked of us: leave them alone.

You've kept this piece of Anti-Matter's strange, functional blue Clockwork robots as a reminder of the time you put an end to:

Look into disturbance at a Portal Corp lab

Briefing

My scanners are picking up some strange activity in one of Portal Corporation's labs. The techs there aren't answering their phones, and I'm worried something has gone wrong again. I fear the worse, and if this is anything like last time, we are going to need some strong heroes to help out. I was hoping I could ask you to check it out.

Mission acceptance

It might be nothing, but then again, it might be really dangerous. Make sure you bring a friend or two along to help.

Unnecessary solicitation

My scanners are still picking up that disturbance. You need to head over to the lab and check it out.

Mission Objective(s)

You can smell the distinct odor of ozone and energy plasma in the air. A portal to another world must have been operated in here recently.

  • Defeat raid leader & its crew
    • 4 network nodes to secure
    • Rescue technician!

Note: Before you exit the mission, be aware the next mission immediately starts off by being a timed 10 minute mission.

Unnecessary solicitation

I'm receiving reports of multiple portals opening throughout Peregrine Island. Help us please!

Mission Objective(s)

This is one of the labs marked on the clockwork's map. You sniff the air. A portal was definitely opened here recently.

  • Secure network in lab - 10:00
    • 4 network nodes to secure

Failure - Your adversary has stolen the secrets behind portal technology.
Success - You have secured the network. No one can access the secret data now.

Note: You have literally 10 minutes after exiting the first mission to find the location of the second mission, enter, and then find and click on four glowies. For the best chance of success, do not fight the enemies, have some method of distracting them/hold them/stun them away from the glowie so you can click it, and invite some friends and split up across the map.

Debriefing failure

There wasn't much you could do for that lab, CharacterName. Whoever wanted the data on the portal technology really knew right where to hit us. They have the theorem for dimensional portals now, and who knows what they intend to do with it. What really scares me though is the increase in DPS, or Dimensional-Photon Shift energy around Peregrine Island right now. I think it's a sign of bigger things to come.

Debriefing success

Wow, that was amazing work. You shut down the network before those robots could get any useful informaiton from that lab. Unfortunately, some of our other labs weren't so lucky. Whoever sent those Clockwork now has their hands on the theorem behind portal technology. What really scares me is the increase in DPS, or Dimensional-Photon Shift energy around Peregrine Island now. I think it's a sign of bigger things to come.

Icon clue generic.png
DPS energy readings
Tina Macintyre informed you that the Dimensional-Photonic Shift readings are currently off the scale. This means that severe portal activity has recently occured, and probably will occur again in the near future.

Check out the temporal disturbance

Briefing

Portal Corporation is reading a very strange temporal disturbances from a nearby dimension. There's no telling what's going on, but I've learned that when something's amuck in the multi-verse, sooner or later it affects Paragon City. I need you to check out the temporal disturbance. If there's anything amiss, you'll need to rectify the situation.

Mission acceptance

I don't know what you'll face there, CharacterName. You'd best be prepared.

Unnecessary solicitation

You need to deal with that temporal disturbance.

Mission Objective(s)

The sun bounds across the sky in mere minutes to be repaced by an equally fleet-footed moon.

  • Stop the temporal disturbance
    • Find Dr. Calvin
    • 5 devices to destroy

You stopped the temporal disturbance.

Icon clue generic.png
Dr. Calvin's story
When you rescued Dr. Calvin, he told you:

'Some strange little robots came through a portal, just like yours. They planted these devices all over the area, and suddenly, time went haywire! The sun set almost as soon as it rose! I used a isostasic chronometer to protect myself, but many of my fellow citizens went mad from the effects. If you destroy all the devices, perhaps they'll return to normal.'

So, some strange robots caused that temporal disturbance, huh? I think we should find out where they're from and put a stop to their temporal shenanigans. I'll get to work on it right away.

Scout out the lab

Briefing

While you were dealing with the temporal disturbance, our scientists have analysed the portals that let all those strange Clockwork robots into Poral Corporation's labs. We think we've found their point of origin: an orbital laboratory on a dimension designed Upsilon Beta 9-6. I'd like you to scout out that lab and see what's going on there. We can't afford more attacks like the last one.

Mission acceptance

Anything you can find out will help.

Unnecessary solicitation

If someone in dimension Upsilon Beta 9-6 is coming after Portal Corporation, I want to know about it!

Mission Objective(s)

A great energy hums through the floor plates beneath your feet. Everything about this orbital lab is state of the art.

  • Defeat all robots in lab
    • Seek clues

You defeated the clockwork and found some interesting files!

Enemies

Badge villain praetorians.png Praetorians

Icon clue generic.png
Anti-Matter's files
You downloaded these files from a computer on Anti-Matter's orbital space lab. They contain detailed documentation on Anti-Matter's recent attempts to punch a permanent dimensional rupture through to Paragon City. They also contain blueprints for Anti-Matter's robots, along with some photographs. In one of the photos, Anti-Matter himself is pictured. Although the color of his armor is a little off, you're astounded to realize how greatly Anti-Matter represents Positron.

Debriefing

You're right, CharacterName, the villain in this photograph certainly looks like Positron. In fact, he looks an awful lot like Positron. Well, he may look like a hero we all know and love, but if this Anti-Matter really is behind the invasions into Portal Corporation labs, he's got to be stopped.

Look for a connection between Clockwork World and Anti-Matter

Briefing

This villain Anti-Matter seems to be in control of a large army of Clockwork robots. They're much tougher than the Clockwork on our world, but I think I have an idea of where they're coming from. Portal Corporation's charted a dimension inhabited entirely by Clockwork minions. I want you to go there and see if you can find any connection between those Clockwork and Anti-Matter.

Mission acceptance

If Anti-Matter is taking his troops from Clockwork World, maybe we can cut off his supply.

"Here's a dimensional residue scanner. If the Clockwork you find have been in contact with anything from Anti-Matter's dimension, this little gem will let us know. It'll beep when it's collected a large enough sample of data."

Icon clue generic.png
Dimensional residue scanner
This handheld device will determine whether any of the robots on Clockwork World have ever been in contact with anything from Anti-Matter's dimension.

Unnecessary solicitation

We still can't draw any conclusions about Anti-Matter's connection to Clockwork World.

Mission Objective(s)

Yours seems to be the only human presence on this planet.

  • Get data by defeating robots

The scanner has a large enough body of data, but you were unable to find any connection between Anti-Matter and Clockwork World.

Note: To complete the mission, find and defeat every single Cannon Prince along with their retinue on the map. You do not need to defeat every single Clockwork on the map.

Well, that mission was a dud, huh, CharacterName? No confirmed connection between Anti-Matter and Clockwork World. Based on your lack of evidence, and the radiation abilities of Anti-Matter's Clockwork, I'm willing to totally rule out any connection. Anti-Matter is getting his Clockwork troops from somewhere else.

Stop the battle

Briefing

The good news is, I've got a lead on Anti-Matter and his strange blue Clockwork. The bad news is, they're right here in Paragon City! They're battling the Carnival of Shadows in an office complex, Waxahachie Park. You've got to get over there and stop that battle! People's businesses, not to mention their lives, are at stake!

Mission acceptance

We've got a force field set up to contain the battle. Just take the Light Rail over to Waxahachie; the force field operators have instructions to let you in.

Unnecessary solicitation

That battle is still raging in Waxahachie Park. Someone's got to stop it!

You stopped the battle.

Debriefing

Thanks to you, there weren't any casualties in Waxahchie Park. I wonder what that battle was all about, anyway. Is the Carnival working against Anti-Matter's Clockwork? We need to check this lead out.

Look for a connection between the Carnival and Anti-Matter

Briefing

That battle between the Carnival and Anti-Matter's Clockwork was certainly interesting. Could it be that the Carnival is somehow working against Anti-Matter? This inquiring mind wants to know. I've got a lead on a Carnival base I'd like you to check out. Look for any connection to Anti-Matter's plans, then report back here.

Mission acceptance

We need some answers, CharacterName. If Anti-Matter's making progress in his efforts to invade this dimension, we need to find out.

Unnecessary solicitation

We still don't know whether the Carnival is involved in Anti-Matter's plans.

Mission Objective(s)

A tinny version of 'As Time Goes By' plays on the Carnival's sound system.

  • Defeat all carnies in warehouse

Debriefing

So the battle between the Carnival and Anti-Matter's Clockwork was all a result of mistaken identity? Looks like we're clueless once more. We need to find out more about Anti-Matter's plans, and we need to do it quickly. CharacterName, it's time to take action.

Search Anti-Matter's orbital lab for any clue to his next move

Briefing

We've had no luck finding a lead on Anti-Matter's plans, CharacterName, so we're going to have to go back to the source. I'm sending you back to Anti-Matter's home dimension. I need you to search Anti-Matter's orbital lab for any clue to his next move. Be careful out there, CharacterName. I get the feeling Anti-Matter is a cunning enemy, and a determined one. He won't take kindly to another invasion of his lab.

Mission acceptance

Learn whatever you can, then report back to me.

Unnecessary solicitation

We still don't have much to go on. We need to know more about Anti-Matter!

Mission Objective(s)

The lab's bitter chill reminds you that the vacuum of space is right outside.

  • Defeat Anti-Matter & his men
    • Seek clues

When Anti-Matter disappeared, he left you with a warning.

Enemies

Print out
You took this print out from a machine in Anti-Matter's lab. It appears to be a record of your movements between dimensions. Each time you enter his lab, Anti-Matter gets closer to pinpointing the exact dimensional signature of your home world. This information will allow Anti-Matter to execute an invasion much more effectively. Instead of opening portals to random locations on your world, he'll be able to target specific areas. This would allow him to move his troops in quickly and effectively.
Icon clue generic.png
Anti-Matter's warning
When Anti-Matter disappeared, he told you:

'You cannot stop me from seizing your dimension! Tyrant will know my worth, and your people will know suffering!'

Debriefing

So, Anti-Matter's trying to coordinate a full-scale invasion of Paragon City. That's bad, CharacterName; that's very, very bad. We'll just have to find a way to stop him. All I can say is, I'm glad to have you working with me on this.

Stop the Clockwork

Briefing

I've received a call for help from Dr. Calvin, the scientist from that world with the wonky time. He says that those strange Clockwork are back, and they're bent on speeding time up once more. You remember what happened last time; everyone on the planet went crazy from the continual shifting between day and night. You've got to get to Dr. Calvin's world and stop the Clockwork. You're that planet's only hope.

Mission acceptance

Calvin says the clockwork have already replaced several of the devices. You'll have to dismantle them.

Unnecessary solicitation

Dr. Calvin's dimension is still in jeopardy from the Clockwork.

Mission Objective(s)

The ticking and clicking of Clockwork robots can be heard throughout the streets.

  • Stop robots speeding up time

Link the silver Clockwork to Anti-Matter

Briefing

Those silver Clockwork seem bound and determined to accelerate the time in Dr. Calvin's dimension. Well, we can't let that continue. The technicians have been trying to trace the Clockwork to their dimension of origin, and they've had some limited success. The silver Clockwork have a hefty dimensional scrambler guarding their lab; so far it's prevented us from figuring out which dimension they're in. But even without that information, we can trace their energy signature and open a portal into their lab. I need you to get to that lab and see if you can link the silver Clockwork to Anti-Matter.

Mission acceptance

We know Anti-Matter's planning to invade Paragon City. It's absolutely critical that we thwart his plans before they get off the ground.

Unnecessary solicitation

You've got to get your hands on some data about the silver Clockwork!

Mission Objective(s)

The cacophony coming from the lab's overhead speakers sounds like it could be music. But its pace is far too rapid to appeal to your ear.

Based on these files you found, it sounds as though the silver Clockwork aren't connected to Anti-Matter at all. I have to say, though, this Neuron seems like an equally twisted character. He had the silver Clockwork try to radically alter another dimension, just to suit his own preferences? That's awful. It sounds like we have two villains to keep an eye on now.

Go to Jamison Office Park and clear the villains out

Briefing

CharacterName, Portal Corporation's facing another major security breach! A cat-like entity from another dimension has been spotted in Jamison Office Park, and she and her friends are causing quite a bit of chaos. We've got the situation locked down, but there's a lot of important infrastructure in that area. I'd feel a lot better if you'd get over to Jamison Office Park and clear that kitty out.

Mission acceptance

We don't know where these cat people are coming from. It's possible that they're related to Anti-Matter's planned invasion, so keep your eyes peeled for clues.

Unnecessary solicitation

Jamison Office Park is still full of cat-people. Something needs to be done.

I'm pretty sure they're not working together on Anti-Matter's plot to invade Paragon City; actually, they sound to me like bitter enemies. I'm not sure of exactly what's going on between them, but one thing is clear: we can't have either one mucking about in Paragon City. We're going to have to deal with this situation head on.

Plant dimensional scanners

Briefing

Guess what, CharacterName! Anti-Matter and Neuron come from the same world! It seemed like they knew each other, so I had the technicians take another look at the data from Neuron's dimension. Despite Neuron's dimensional scrambler, we were able to match several distinguishing features with the data from Anti-Matter's dimension. Both villains are from Upsilon-Beta 9-6! Call me crazy, but I think Paragon City got caught in the middle of a power striggle between supervillains.

We're sending you to a remote corner of Upsilon Beta 9-6 to plant a network of dimensional scanners. Unfortunately, we can't risk anyone tracing our dimensional signature. You only have an hour to place the scanners.

Mission acceptance

By the way, the techs have come up with a new name for Upsilon Beta 9-6. We're calling it 'Praetorian Earth.'

Here are the scanners. They feed off bioelectric energy, so you should find some animals to place them on.

Briefing

CharacterName, those dimensional scanners you planted just went off! It looks as though a massive force of Praetorians just teleported into a lab here in Paragon City! I need you to get over there on the double, CharacterName! This could be the beginning of Anti-Matter's invasion.

Mission acceptance

According to the data, there are overwhelming forces in that lab. I'd take a full team along, if I were you.

Anti-Matter's had a secret lab right here in Paragon City, and no one even knew about it! These Praetorians are cunning and resourceful indeed. We'll certainly have to keep our eye on Praetorian Earth in the future. Who knows what other dangers it holds?

Missions

Check out the strange signal

Note: Although this mission only makes sense if it occurs before the main story arc, it is given out randomly and may be assigned afterward. Why this mission is not directly within the story arc, you'd have to ask NCSoft.

Briefing

CharacterName, we're tracking a strange signal from another dimension. Ninety percent of the time these things turn out to be some other dimension's version of satellite TV. Still, it's got the guys over in Risk Management all a-twitter. They asked if I'd send you to check out this strange signal. Scout out the area, determine the signal's source, and report back.

You'll be going to dimension Upsilon Beta 9-6. Not much is known about it yet.

Mission Objective(s)

The passage through the portal leaves you with a vaguely unsettled stomach.

  • Defeat Anti-Matter & his men
    • 10 devices to shut down

You prevented Anti-Matter from creating a permanent portal into your world.

Debriefing

So, that villain was trying to establish a permanent portal into our world. That's pretty scary. Portal Corporation will have to get to work on some protective measures. Thanks for buying us the time we need, CharacterName. I only hope the Zig can hold someone of Anti-Matter's power.

Rescue Vivian van Dyne

Briefing

We just got an emergency call. Vivian van Dyne, a world class scientist, has just been kidnapped. Our technology indicates that she's been taken to another dimension, and we've managed to pinpoint the correct one: Omicron Zeta 12-20. Portal Corporation's techs discovered the dimension just last week; it was a chunk of broken rubble, ruled over by a clan of Freakshow. Perhaps our investigation into their territory provoked this attack. I don't know if the Freaks on that world are as nasty as the ones here, but I need you to rescue Vivian van Dyne.

Dr. van Dyne's employers tell me she was hard at work on a new anesthetic drug. Perhaps her kidnapping has something to do with that.

Mission Objective(s)

A heavy techno beat blasts across the still waters of this ruined wasteland.

  • Rescue Vivian van Dyne

You rescued Vivian van Dyne.

Debriefing

The Freakshow of Omicron Zeta 12-20 sure made a mess for themselves. I suppose in a way I do feel bad for them. I can't let them kidnap our scientists, but I can arrange for a shipment of analgesic drugs to be sent to their dimension. Nothing dangerous like the Excelsior the Freaks use to enhance their strength, of course. Just something to keep their implants from paining them so greatly.

Repel the Crey incursion

Briefing

CharacterName, Portal Corporation really needs your help. A group of Crey operatives are attacking a lab in Founders' Falls. They want Portal Corporation's technology, and they're not going to give up without some strong encouragement. That's where you come in. I need you to get over to that lab and repel the Crey incursion. Portal Corporation's technology is far too dangerous for the likes of Crey!

Mission acceptance

I doubt Crey has any idea how dangerous that tech can be. You've got to stop them from getting their hands on it!

Unnecessary solicitation

I can't stress the importance of this mission enough. Get over to that lab and stop those Crey!

Mission Objective(s)

Your job is dangerous, but it's better than being a Portal Corp tech.

  • Defeat all Crey in lab
    • 3 scientists to save

You stopped the Crey incursion and found a clue to their next target.

The scientist's story
One of the Portal Corporation scientists you rescued told you:

'They said when they were through with us, they were going to go after the RM-Delta facility on Peregrine Island. I can't tell you what goes on therel it's highly classified. What I can tell you is that if you don't stop those Crey forces, they could gain the technology they need to change our world forever!'

Scientist 3: "These goons can't possibly understand pure science!"

Unnecessary solicitation

Crey's going after the RM-Delta facility! You've got to stop them!

Mission Objective(s)

You hear a loud crash and a nasty snicker. A sarcastic voice remarks, 'Whoops.'

  • Defeat all Crey in lab
    • 4 scientists to save.

Notable NPCs

  • Scientist x 4 (non-escort hostages)
Badge bughunter 01.png Bug! In this mission, the hostage Scientists will take on the appearance of the Fifth Column's Mek Man. It is unknown if this is intentional due to Tina's dimension-hopping missions, or some sort of skinning bug.

NPC Text

Before combat:

Vigilant: "Who knew Portal Corporation had so many secrets?"
Researcher: "Who do they think they're fooling? They can't deal with something like this!"

Combat start:

Vigilant: "You should mind your own business!"

When rescued:

Scientist 1: "They want to do terrible things with our technology!"
Scientist 2: "Stop them, CharacterName! They're toying with tremendous power!"
Scientist 3: "They're madmen!"
Scientist 4: "They mustn't be allowed to succeed!"

Debriefing

Whew, CharacterName, that was a close one. Crey doesn't even know how close they came to causing a phenomenal disaster! Portal Corporation's technology is still in its infancy, you understand. It's not perfect. Oh, we do our best to minimize the risks of dimensional travel, but we're still on the edge of a new frontier. Accidents are bound to happen.

Hmm. Perhaps I've said too much.

Save the Oranbegans from the Malta Group

Briefing

I just got word that the Malta Group has had portal technology for the last six months! They've been setting up amateur portals, very unstable, but now it looks as if they've got their system working. I guess I shouldn't be too surprised by which world they've selected: Tau Gamma 9-24. The world where Oranbega won their war against the nation of Mu. From everything I've heard, the Oranbegans on that world are a decent people. The Malta Group is this world's problem, not theirs. Will you save the Oranbegans from the Malta Group? You only have 90 minutes to deal with the situation.

The Malta Group wants to bring all super powers under its control. Including those on other worlds.

Mission Objective(s)

This place is similar to the Oranbegan ruins on your earth, but here everthing is clean and well-maintained.

  • Save peaceful Oranbegans (1:30:00)
    • 12 mages to save

You saved the Oranbegans from the Malta Group.

Enemies

Icon clue generic.png
The mage's story
One of the Oranbegan mages you rescued told you:

'In ancient times, our people waged terrible wars. First, we eliminated the nation of Mu. Then, fearing for our safety, we conquered the rest of the planet. Whole civilizations were ground under our heels. Later, repentant, we made a pact. No violent magic may be performed upon this world. The knowledge of such spells has been purged from our libraries, and it is death to perform them. Perhaps our philosophy of pacifism has trapped us. We had the power to defend ourselves against Malta, but not the will!'

Debriefing

A world on which the Circle of Thorns turned into utter pacifists? I guess I've heard stranger things. You did a good thing by protecting them against the Malta Group, CharacterName. Portal Corporation is working on a method for locking the Malta Group out of other dimensions. Until it's ready, we'll just have to rely upon your skillful assistance.

Stop the Council soliders

Briefing

I just got word of a major security breach over on Peregrine Island. It seems the Council has broken through a portal, and they're trying to gather recruits from a world where the Council is in total control. If that happens, we could be overrun with agents in no time flat. I need you to get over to Peregrine and stop those Council soldiers!

This dimension you'll be going to is designated Omega Omicron 26-20, but most people just call it the Council Empire.

Mission Objective(s)

The Council anthem plays continuously from overhead speakers.

  • Defeat all negotiators in area

You prevented the Council from gaining new recruits from the Council Empire.

Enemies

Badge villain council.png Council
Badge villain council.png Council Empire

Debriefing

The Council Empire is on the list of restricted dimensions. It's been ruled far too dangerous for our technicians to explore. But for the Council, it's some sort of Mecca. I wouldn't be surprised if they try a stunt like this again, so we should both be on our guard.

Check out the new dimension

Briefing

I've got another dimension for you to check out, if you're ready for it. It's called Alpha Upsilon 24-2. I have to warn you, we've been getting some very strange life signs from this dimension. It's be best to be on your guard.

Mission acceptance

I really don't know what you'll find in this dimension. But I'm sure you can handle whatever comes up.

Unnecessary solicitation

We need to know more about that alternate dimension.

Mission Objective(s)

The terrain is recognizable as familiar Paragon City. But something happened here. Something horrible.

  • Investigate the new dimension
    • Seek clues

You found a clue to the fate of this world.

Diary
You found this tattered diary beneath a pile of bones. It reads:

'I, the mighty CharacterName, have triumphed, but victory is not as sweet as I imagined. In my zeal to conquer this feeble world, I have instead demolished it. The people I would have ruled? Dead, though not entirely gone. They linger in these lands as foul, angry spirits. They hope eventually to find a way to destroy me, but I am not concerned. I am CharacterName! I need fear no one, for my power is truly beyond all limits.'

NPC Text

Before combat:

Spirit: "You know what I miss? I miss enchiladas."
Spirit: "Stop it! I'm tired of hearing about things we can no longer have!"

Combat start:

Spirit: "I thought we did away with CharacterName long ago!"

Before combat:

Spirit: "There's nothing alive here anymore."

Combat start:

Spirit: "It's CharacterName! Back from the grave!"

Before combat:

Spirit: "The winds are whispering: CharacterName is back."
Spirit: "Impossible! We destroyed that traitor years ago!"

Combat start:

Spirit: "You did this to us! We'll destroy you!"

Debriefing

Don't feel too bad, CharacterName. It sounds as though your alternate self wiped out that dimension, but doesn't mean you're responsible. If anything, you should take it as a warning. I guess your other self was corrupted by your terrific power. Remember that, and don't let it happen to you!

Go to Peregrine Island and clear out the Rikti

Briefing

Portal Corporation's been having a big problem maintaining safety for the lab on Peregrine Island. One of the worst offenders is the Rikti. They seem determined to steal our technology, destroy it, or possibly both! I'd like you to head over to Peregrine Island and clear the Rikti out.

Mission acceptance

The Rikti have never seen any technology they didn't want to control. Be wary of them, CharacterName. If I were you, I'd start my search in Nelson Borough or Curry Cove.

Unnecessary solicitation

Those Rikti are still causing a problem over on Peregrine Island.

Mission Objective(s)

  • Defend Peregrine from Rikti
    • Defeat 50 Rikti

You have discouraged the Rikti from attacking Portal Corporation.

Debriefing

The security officers over at Portal Corporation are reporting a significant decrease in Rikti activity. Apparently, you really showed them what's what.

Protect Peregrine Island from the Malta Group

Briefing

Peregrine Island may house some of the most important technology on this planet, CharacterName. And it looks like the Malta Group knows it. They've been hanging around the area, trying to get their mitts on any information they can. Some of our technicians have even been assaulted! I need you to protect Peregrine Island from the Malta Group. A lot is at stake here, CharacterName; more than you realize.

Mission acceptance

The Malta Group has shown a lot of persistence in this matter. They won't be deterred easily. Look for them near Bayside Docks or Curry Cove.

Unnecessary solicitation

According to my sources, the Malta espionage on Peregrine Island is still as bad as ever.

Mission Objective(s)

  • Defend Peregrine from Malta
    • Defeat 50 Malta Operatives

You discouraged the Malta Group from spying on Portal Corporation.

Debriefing

I'll sleep a lot better knowing you've got your eye on the Malta Group's activities. If they were ever to get their hands on Portal Corporation's technology, they'd become a great deal more dangerous overnight.

See what you can learn about Crey's efforts

Briefing

We're a little worried about Crey lately. It seems they've been making attempts to access other dimensions, with some degress of success. I can't stress this enough, CharacterName: dimensional stability is not something to be toyed with! We need you to hit the streets and see what you can learn about Crey's efforts. If we can learn about their technology, we may be able to block them from accessing other worlds.

Mission acceptance

Crey may be the most power-hungry organization I've ever seen. And, as you might imagine, CharacterName, I've seen a lot. I hear you can find Crey in the Rikti War zone, and occasionally right here on Peregrine.

Unnecessary solicitation

We need to know what progress Crey has made in their efforts to access other worlds.

Mission Objective(s)

  • Interrogate Crey agents
    • Defeat 50 Crey

One of the Crey agents gave up a disk containing information on Crey's efforts to access other dimensions.

Ambush!

Somewhere along the way, you will be ambushed by Crey.

Icon clue generic.png
Disk
One of the Crey agents you defeated gave you this disk, labeled 'Project Other Self.' According to the agent, it contains data on Crey's progress in their efforts to reach alternate dimensions. You can only hope it'll be enough to help Portal Corporation.

Debriefing

This disk should be a big help, CharacterName. Thank you so much! I have to admit, Crey is an organization that really frightens me. I simply don't think they have any idea of how dangerous portal technology can be. Why, by mucking about in other dimensions they could be... Well, perhaps that's better left unsaid.

Extract the rebels from the Pantheon's dimension

Briefing

Are you familiar with the Banished Pantheon, the evil cult that overran the cemetery in Dark Astoria? Well, they're not just a problem for our world. I've been in contact with a world in which the gods that make up the Pantheon were never banished to the spirit world. Instead, they became the dominant gods on their planet and wreaked havoc for millennia! The resisters on that planet have asked for a favor. They've asked us to extract a group of captives held by the Pantheon. Will you do it? You only have 90 minutes to save the captives.

The Pantheon's gods are a brutal, bloodthirsty lot. I'd hate to find out what horrors they could dream up after millennia of free reign.

Mission Objective(s)

You hear a thunderous footstep. A pause, then you hear another.

  • Defeat Adamastor & its servants - 1:30:00
    • 5 people to save

You saved the rebels from the Banished Pantheon.

Icon clue generic.png
The captive's story
One of the rebels you rescued from the Banished Pantheon's world told you:

'Our gods live on pain and fear. Some of their favorite dishes, like myself and my companions, they have enchanted with everlasting life. They keep us alive for century after century, feasting on our misery. After I return with you to your world, I won't be immortal anymore. That doesn't matter. I only want to be free.'

Debriefing

I feel so sorry for those people. For centuries, they've been the Banished Pantheon's favorite playthings! I'm going to talk to the security branch, see if I can get a steady underground railroad going. We should move as many people out of that dimension as we can!

Rescue the freedom fighters

Briefing

This is a first, CharacterName. A freedom fighter from another world just contacted us and asked for help. Apparently, her world is under the brutal control of its version of Nemesis. Anyway, this freedom fighter, Julianne Thompson, says that a bunch of her comrades in the resistance are about to be rounded up. There aren't any more heroes on her world, so she knew she had to look elsewhere. It sounds like a worthy cause to me. Go rescue those freedom fighters. You only have 2 hours.

Any world under the control of Nemesis can use all the help we can lend them.

Mission Objective(s)

Nemesis' world looks a lot like ours, but the streets are somehow unwelcoming.

  • Rescue the freedom fighters - 2:00:00
    • 5 people to save

Enemies

Debriefing

You're saying that one of those freedom fighters you rescued was me? I mean, an alternate version of me? No matter how many times I hear that around here, I never get used to it. Anyway, I got a message from Julianne Thompson, the leader of the freedom fighters. She says all her people are safe now, in a secure location. You just struck a blow against Nemesis, CharacterName. Albeit a different Nemesis than our own.
