Information

Alpha of Marauder's Top Dogs

Cocky and self-centered, Reese has good reason to throw his weight around Powers Division. Of all of Marauder's Top Dogs none have risen higher or faster than him. No other Powers Division member can match Reese's strength, skill, and cunning, a point he makes abundantly clear with the broken bodies of those who would dare challenge him.

Prior to Introduction

I don't know who you think you are, hanging around here and barking at everyone. Come to think of it, I don't know who you are at all.

Initial Contact

Look who it is! Character, talk of the town. Heard all the things about you.

You think you're tough? Got a news flash for you. Me, I'm years beyond what you'll ever be. Name's Reese.

You think just 'cause you take down a few rogue robots and make yourself look good that you really got what it takes?

That you're better than me?

You're not.

If we're gonna work together, you should know right away, you work for me. Got it?

  • I'm sensing you have a problem with me.
Problem? I have no problem at all with you.
I think it's great that some sort of lower-class person like you thinks they can go toe-to-toe with the higher ups like me. I'm done standing around and talking though. We've got a job to do.
Or rather, you've got a job to do. The people may want to see more of you, but it's time for us to get down to the business of protecting Praetoria.
You can sense Reese doesn't care much about actually protecting Praetoria. He thinks you'll be 'working' for him - which is pure fantasy, of course. Given his high position within Marauder's Top Dogs, you should play along for now and wait for the chance to strike. Reese will no doubt try to make a move to take you down - that's when you'll be able to beat him at his own game.
  • I think you really want me to hurt you, Reese. Is that what you want?
Maybe I do, Character.
There's going to be plenty of time for that later, I promise you.
Right now, you and me? We've got a situation, and it involves the Resistance. Get yourself all gussied up, or whatever you do to look like that and get back to me.

  • I can see we're both going to get along perfectly
Sarcasm eh? Is that how you're standing here, talking to me? Time to wake up, Character. You're prowling with the big dogs now. And I gotta tell you, we're gonna tear you apart. Why don't you go get yourself ready before I send you off to your untimely death? 'Cause I'm betting you don't have what it takes to stand shoulder to shoulder with us.

Greeting

  • You're not dead yet?
  • Well, if it isn't Character. To what do I owe the honor? I don't actually mean honor, in case you didn't get it.
  • Surprise surprise, everyone's favorite member of Power's Division.

TPN Profile

TPN has recently been running a profile on you after the victory you achieved in the Powers Division induction ceremony. The report on TPN is called...

Rise to Power

The report begins by detailing you capturing Tock, a member of the Resistance who had planted multiple explosive devices within the tunnels of Praetoria. Little do the TPN reporters know that Reese had sent you there in the hopes that you would be blown to pieces. He was rather surprised when you came back alive and with TPN reporting on your success.

The report continues, praising you for putting down the Resistance supply base that was within one of the warehouses in Nova. This, again, was an attempt by Reese to kill you. Your ally, Warrant, revealed during this time that he was tipping off TPN to the work that you were doing.

All of this culminated in the Induction Ceremony to Powers Division, an event that was broadcasted throughout all of Nova. The TPN report shows clips of you fighting Riptide, Aria, and Zane in the heart of the Magisterium. Upon their defeat, the camera zooms in on Reese's shocked face, a look that you think you'll remember for quite some time.

Part One: Yes, I Survived

If you're going to be on my team, you'll have to earn your keep, Character.

The PPD have discovered a Resistance base down in the tunnels under the Magisterium. Got some sort of leader named Tock down there calling the shots. They wanted to go in there and bring him in, but I told 'em that we'd handle it.

You wanna prove that you're the big bad around here, right? Well, go down there and mop up that Resistance cell.

Given the plainly obvious fact that Reese doesn't like you, it's most likely the case that he's sending you straight into a trap. If the PPD were going to clean this place out, it's unlikely that it'll give you any problems. However, you'll have the benefit of walking into the situation knowing beforehand that Reese intends for you to die in these tunnels.

Sure, I'll go check it out.

Good to see you're all gung-ho about going in for this.

Here's the location where you can get inside. It shouldn't be too hard for someone like you to bring him in. I'd do it, but I've got more important things to worry about.

Unnecessary Solicitation

You're gonna do that thing, right?

Mission Objective(s)

You can smell sulfur in the air - the Resistance are making bombs down here. You'd better watch your step.

  • Defeat Tock in the Tunnels
    • Defeat Tock
    • Don't go near the Proximity Bombs

You've finished off Tock and survived all of the planted explosives. Time to go back to Reese and show him that you're still alive.

Mission Exit: You're greeted by the press of Praetoria as you step out of the tunnels. It seems someone put in a tip that you were going to disarm a highly volatile situation with the Resistance. The press ask you various questions and take some photos before rushing off to report about your latest heroics, or so they believe.

An Obvious Trap
You went down to defeat the Resistance leader in the tunnels and ran into several planted bombs, ready to explode. It's obvious that Reese sent you down here in the hopes that you wouldn't return - only a specially trained demolitions should have been sent in there.

Unfortunately for Reese, you survived - and the press will take notice.

Debriefing

...hello, Character. I'm not surprised to see you alive. After all, you were all over the news, what with you disarming the bomb situation.

You know, being in Powers Division isn't about hogging fame and glory. It's serious work.

You'd better learn that or else you'll get put down real soon. But you're alive. Which is...good. It means there's more stuff you can handle while I'm out doing the important tasks at hand.

I'm tired of us talking face to face. Take this so we don't need to do this anymore.

Part Two: The Life and Times of You

Talk to Warrant

Do you know why we're here, Character? It's because the Resistance thinks that the subway and the tunnels under Nova Praetoria are safe.

Warrant reports that he got a confession from a Resistance fighter about where they're meeting. Now, Warrant said he was gonna go handle this meeting on his own, but I think you should be the one to go down there and take care of business.

Go speak with him and tell him that the higher ups in the Powers Division are telling him to allow you to handle this. Pretty nice of me, isn't it?

You're practically a saint.

Don't get smart with me, Character. Just go see what Warrant has and take care of whatever it is.

Unnecessary Solicitation

Warrant is a busy man, don't keep him waiting.

Mission Objective(s)

  • Talk to Warrant

Briefing

Hey there, Character. Saw you on the news earlier today.
I heard Reese was planning on sending you down there, so I may or may not have told them that you were out to get a high-profile situation disarmed. Figured you'd make it out alright - the look on Reese's face when the show came up was priceless.
So Reese wants you to handle this case of mine? Figures. I was going to go in there with Stern, but he wants to send you in there alone. Must mean he's trying to kill you - again.
Well, here's the information I have. I doubt you'll die over there, so I'll see what I can do on my end to help you make Reese look like a fool.

Take out the Resistance Gathering

Mission Objective(s)

The Resistance seem to be slipping if they think they can keep supplies on the surface. It should be simple enough to beat them all down - then show off your victory to make Reese look like a fool.

  • Take out the Resistance Gathering
    • 3 Supply Crates Remain

You destroyed the Resistance supply cache!

Mission Exit: You step out of the warehouse to see a small squad of reporters waiting to get your photo. Amongst all of their questions, one stands out - 'What are you thoughts on Praetor White ordering an Induction Ceremony?'

Unnecessary Solicitation

The Resistance aren't going to wait for you down in the tunnels forever, get a move on.

Debriefing

Character.

I tell you this isn't about fame and glory, and what do you do? You hog both, and now I'm being ordered by Praetor White to set up an induction ceremony for you?! I swear, this is the most ridiculous thing ever.

You don't even do anything!

Well, if it's a ceremony that the big boss wants, it's a ceremony that he'll get.

Part Three: A Spectacle for the Crowd

Fight Stern

I've been told to tell you what exactly the Induction Ceremony is.

It's not easy rising to power and fame - power in the division.

When someone catches our eye, we run 'em through a series of fights with our toughest members.

I don't need to participate in it anymore, of course. They ruled it unfair after I kept wiping the floor with all of our inductees.

White ordered me to set one up, so I set one up.

On the off chance you make it through this, White is putting you on par with me. You're not better than me, mind you, just on the same level. On paper.

Right, on paper. So who's up first?

Your first, and last opponent, is going to be Stern. If Stern is having an off day and somehow you win, you're fighting that little pal of yours, Warrant.

You'll probably beat Warrant since he's a little...

Ahem. If you past Warrant, we have the final rounds taking place in the heart of the Magisterium.

I kind of hope you make it that far - at least then everyone will see how you're full of hot air when you fall down in the shadow of Cole's tower.

Unnecessary Solicitation

Stern is your first opponent, you can find him over at the C.M.F.

Mission Objective(s)

You can hear the sound of Clockwork gathered. Stern must have summoned them all here to the fight.

  • Fight Stern
    • Defeat Stern

You defeated Stern!

Briefing

You're Character? Thought you'd be taller.

You ready for this fight? I won't take it easy on you.

I'm ready.

Fight Warrant

Unnecessary Solicitation

Warrant is your next opponent.

Mission Objective(s)

You feel the wind blow against your face as you step onto the PPD roof.

  • Fight Warrant
    • Defeat Warrant

You have defeated Warrant.

Briefing

Good to see you, Character, looks like you and I finally have to go toe to toe. I'm looking forward to this spar.

I'll meet you on the top of the PPD building when you're ready.

Let's do it.

Briefing

You think you got what it takes, Character? They got a whole little arena set up for your final bout in the Magisterium. Not that I think it's a good idea - people shouldn't be there to see Riptide rip you to shreds. But Praetor White seems fine with it.
This is me laughing, Reese. Ha ha ha. I'm ready to go.

Mission Objective(s)

You can hear the loud roar of the crowd up ahead - it looks like this fight has gotten quite a bit of attention.

  • Attend the Final Round in Magisterium
    • Defeat Riptide
    • Defeat Aria
    • Defeat Zane

You've wiped the floor with all the members of the Powers Division!

Debriefing

....

Well, you know something, Character. Maybe you're not all that bad.

You fought better than I expected out there. Maybe now all the other members of Powers Division will start to pick up some slack and actual work to improve themselves - like me.

Reese's Shocked Look

Sometimes when you're not too busy, you remember the shocked look on Reese's face when you knocked him out in your one on one fight. It reminds you of an experience you call...

The Strong Survive

After surviving the Powers Division induction ceremony, Reese was eager to go with you on a mission to capture Jack Hammer and the leader of the Destroyers. However, when you arrived to the warehouse, you were ambushed by Reese and his hired help. You easily defeated Reese and found out that he intended on blowing you up after you were defeated. You were then left with a choice - blow Reese up instead, or call in Praetor White to show him just exactly how pathetic Reese was.

Finale: The Strongest of Them All

Here's the situation, Character.

We've discovered the location of the Resistance head in Nova. His name is Jack Hammer, and he's real nasty bit of work. Addicted to Fixadine, the works.

We've got his location in a warehouse in Nova - drugged-out fool was using the place to hide his entire stash of Fixadine. Can you believe it? Here's the best part. We got one of the leaders of the Destroyers in that warehouse too! They're making some sort of deal, the Destroyers and the Resistance both trying to work together.

Good thing for us is that the PPD doesn't know about this yet. So it's up to you and me to get in there and get ourselves these two. We pull this off, it's power and glory for us!

This arc is a SINGLE PLAYER MORAL CHOICE story arc. You will not be able to have other people on your team assist you with this story arc.

For us, huh? We'll see.

I'll head out now. We'll pincer them in the warehouse. I'll take the back, you take the front. We'll make sure neither of them can get away from us, not when we're this close to getting our names known throughout all of Praetoria!

Unnecessary Solicitation

Reese has already left to deal with Jack Hammer.

Mission Objective(s)

Jack Hammer and the leader of the Destroyers are in here somewhere. Time to get yourself some real power and glory!

  • Capture Jack Hammer and the Destroyer Leader (Single Player)
    • Defeat all members of the Resistance
    • Defeat all incoming ambushes

You've handled Reese - now it's time to move on to more important things.

Reese - Captured. Your choice now.

Reese, the 'Top Dog' of the Powers Division, failed in his attempt to kill you...

The bombs he intended to use to blow you up - along with this warehouse - still remain usable...

But will you seek vengeance on Reese...or use this to gain more power within the Powers Division?

Moral Choice

Players are presented with a moral choice: to gain power within the Resistance or gain power within the Loyalists.

  • Blow Up Reese. Set the bombs in the warehouse to explode, killing Reese and his men. Gain power within Resistance. Blowing up Reese and his boys won't earn you any points within the Loyalists. It certainly would give you a good amount of power and sway within the Resistance if they knew you single-handedly took down seven members of the Powers Division. Is it worth more to hold power within the Resistance, or within the Loyalists? (As the story of Praetoria unfolds your character will have opportunities to change their mind and switch sides.)
  • Report Your Victory. Call in Praetor White to witness what happened. Gain power within the Loyalists. Reese's pride got the better of him. He thought this puny force was enough to take you down, but he was wrong. Someone needs to personally show Praetor White that, maybe, Reese isn't all that. You could easily contact Praetor White to get him down here and see just what happens when someone tries to double cross you. After this stunt, you'll easily gain Reese's position - and more - within the Loyalists. (As the story of Praetoria unfolds your character will have opportunities to change their mind and switch sides.)
Gain power within Resistance

Mission Objective(s)

  • Set 4 Bombs
    • Escape the Warehouse

You have 20 seconds to get out before the warehouse collapses

Gain power within the Loyalists

Praetor White arrives.

With Reese defeated, you're able to contact Praetor White.

You're informed that Praetor White will be down here momentarily to see what has happened...

Reese:

P-Praetor White...!
Look, I can explain...!
Reese: C-come on! Praetor White, it doesn't have to be like this!

Debriefing

Alright Character. I'm here.
So Reese and his dogs tried killin' you off huh? Sayin' they're gonna pin you as some sorta Resistance scum?
That's right. And it didn't go well for them.
Praetor White barks out a laugh.
Yeah, that much I can tell. So looks like you think you're on the top of the pile now, huh?
That what you called me here to show off, that you're equal to Reese and his gang?
No. That I'm better than Reese and his 'gang'.
Hah!
I knew you had fire in you, Character. Maybe you are better, I'll give you that.
Reese was supposed to be one of the best I had. Looks like I gotta start raisin' my standards then.
Looks like I gotta be spreadin' the word that there's a new big bad in town - you, Character. I gotta admit, I didn't think you had it in ya when we first met, but you went and proved me wrong.
This don't mean you can go and get cocky. You're raisin' the bar, other members of the Powers Division are gonna be goin' after you, lookin' to claim your spot, just like you did with Reese.
And me? I'm gonna let 'em, 'cause I want the best. You got that clear?
Crystal. No one is taking me down.
Good.
Now get outta here. I'm gonna make sure Reese learns a very valuable lesson from all this.
Maybe he'll make it outta here alive - if he's still got the will.
Have fun with Reese.

Unnecessary Solicitation to Praetor White

You got your pass, Character. I'll deal with Reese and his dogs myself.

Very well
