: Mainly, it uses non-breaking spaces between the coordinates instead of breaking spaces.  If you just type (x, y, z), it could possibly insert a line break in the middle of the coordinates.  Using this template (or manually typing  , which is a pain) ensures that the coordinates are all on the same line.  --[[User:TonyV|TonyV]] 08:18, 25 July 2007 (EDT)

Mainly, it uses non-breaking spaces between the coordinates instead of breaking spaces. If you just type (x, y, z), it could possibly insert a line break in the middle of the coordinates.
