Mission #1: Unnecessary solicitation

The text I've currently got listed under the 'unnecessary solicitation' section of the first mission for the first-time solicitation happens no matter what. If you don't talk to him before the mission, he'll use the same text after the mission...

I'm not sure whether it's a game bug or not, but I figured I'd document it here in case someone else has a better way of representing it on the contact page  FW (talk · contrib 03:12, 1 May 2010 (UTC)

I think it's a bug, and that text is supposed to be the initial contact dialog. The same thing happens with Dean MacArthur. I put the text into the initial contact section, with just the unnecessary solicitation remaining. I've only done these mission from Ouro, so that might have something to do with it?

Dr. Zeist and Higgins in Mission 1

They each have an NPC Text box. Within each box is a Briefing template. In Higgins', I was able to change the title so it doesn't say 'Briefing'. As part of my attempts at doing so, I created a page for Dr. Higgins. I tried to do the same, without giving him his own page, for Zeist, but it doesn't look like it worked (I changed the "Type" for the briefing template). I don't really want to add a whole page for Dr. Zeist, since I don't think he or the other 2 good doctors are quite worthy of their own pages. If there's a way to change that 'Briefing' text so it doesn't say "Breifing" without giving Zeist his own page, that would be neat.

I changed it because I don't think that their dialogues are really briefings: Zeist's certainly isn't (maybe a debriefing). It just seems to me that briefings should be kept to the main contact, and in-mission dialog should be something else.

Never mind, I fixed it. Felderburg 22:03, 6 May 2010 (UTC)

Interesting Note

Oddity: a Leonard "Milton" co founded the company, while this Leonard is Mane's body guard. This is how the text appears in game, but maybe they should be the same? Or maybe whoever wrote this arc just likes the name Leonard? Felderburg 03:54, 4 May 2010 (UTC)

Frankly, I'm wondering where the name "Silmon" comes from. I did the arc in-game, and he quite specifically is called "just Leonard." I believe the character's actual last name is Milton, and is indeed the one found in the PPD files, and that "Silmon" is entirely incorrect and probably a holdover from beta. --GuyPerfect 16:27, 4 May 2010 (UTC)
The "more information about this contact" calls him Silmon.  FW (talk · contrib 23:07, 6 May 2010 (UTC)
Hmm. I would seem more appropriate to me to have the article title match the name over the contact's head and have a redirect from the full name. Just thinking out loud - or in print, rather. --Eabrace Healthbar notify phone.png 23:39, 6 May 2010 (UTC)
I had that same thought when I first set up the contact page, but I left it with the full name since that's what was in the patch notes. I'd be fine with moving this page and making it a redirect. --Blondeshell 00:50, 7 May 2010 (UTC)

Mane Corp and its employees

Should Mane Corp get its own page? If so, its employees (the scientist, thomas mane, leonard, ex-crey guards, the 3 named ex-crey scientists) should be on its page.

If not, the question is where else to add its employees, if it all. The Mane Corp Scientists I will add to hapless citizens anyways, since that's what they are in game. However, the ex-crey guards and higgins et al. all show up as part of the Crey enemy group in game. Should they be added to crey's page? Felderburg 22:10, 6 May 2010 (UTC)

We probably should start a new page for Mane Corp. I haven't played through this arc yet, so I haven't seen if any of the NPCs are specifically identified as belonging to a Mane Corp faction. If they are, then their info should definitely be added on the new page. If they are identified as belonging to a different faction (i.e. Crey), then there should probably be some special mention of them somewhere in the overview for Mane Corp, but their actual entries should be on the page belonging to the faction they are identified with.
Following your example of Higgins, his info should be entered on the Crey page, but you might mention something in the overview for Mane Corp about former Crey employees being hired by the company and link to Higgins's profile on the Crey page. --Eabrace Healthbar notify phone.png 22:55, 6 May 2010 (UTC)
I've deleted the link brackets around Mane Corp from the three pages that link to it (1 here, 1 souvenir from this arc, and one patch notes). It seems to me that Mane Corp only appears in this arc in game, and therefore the places it appears on the wiki generally explain it well enough that creating a page for it wouldn't be necessary. If there are other articles that have Mane Corp in them in a way that isn't self-explanatory, they should just get linked to Leonard's page (although I suspect Protean would be the only page that necessitates this). Mission Choices and Optional Sections

I've noted them by placing them inside div boxes. I also created a template, identical to EdNote, called MissionChoice, that just makes it more clear. I did this because I felt that editor's notes were more for things like "Dean's dialog is different for the genders" rather than noting a place where a choice was present. Maybe I'm being too analytical. If you feel that "Mission Choice Alert!" is silly, just go replace anywhere I typed "MissionChoice" as a template with "EdNote".

Either way, the presentation of optional portions ought to be examined. Do we make some sort of template? Is the way I did it, with divboxes and ednotes/choice alerts alright?

Boss Name in Find Thomas Mane

From the patch notes:

Good Villains Never Die (Part 2): Fixed a bug where the name for the final boss in the task, "Find Thomas Mane" was labeled incorrectly.

Someone ought to find out what boss had its name changed, and fix it in the article accordingly, then delete this note (the only boss I can think of is "kill team leader" and I don't see any need for it to be renamed, but I'm just rambling on now). Felderburg 01:40, 9 June 2010 (UTC)
